“A good flirt can go far. My new MacBook, upon which I write this entry, is the result of a one such occasion. I brought my sister’s broken computer to an Apple store ‘genius’ to determine if it could be fixed. I wasn’t dressed in a particularly fabulous outfit and my hair was pinned up in a bun. Nevertheless, I elicited a few appreciative looks from the apple sales staff and customers. Unlike most electronic stores, Apple has surprisingly attractive employees. Sleek, well groomed, and colour coordinated, much like their products. As my genius ran updates on my ancient 2007 MacBook he made witty computer-related jokes (which were completely lost on me) and bantered with his friend behind the genius bar. Both he and his friend were francophone but they bantered in English for my benefit. Wry smiles flew back and forth over the genius bar and amid the rapid fire, an error occurred. ‘Your logic board just died, Miss.’”
