“The Diamanza contest was not my first foray into the mystical world of modeling. The most difficult modeling contract I ever had was for the Colour Mundo Body Art Convention held at the Montreal Science Centre. The convention was two full days in the air-conditioned main hall where I stood still as a statue in my underwear and pasties while an artist blasted me with cold air from her airbrush machine. The first day I was painted as a wall of graffiti and the second day I was Marie Antoinette. The metro ride home was very amusing as everyone on the platform stared at my white hair, sprayed so that it stood straight up, and Marie Antoinette pale-faced red-lipped make-up juxtaposed with my blue jeans and T-shirt. Even more fun than the metro, was having my friends come over to help remove the body paint with baby oil. A very long process involving lots of scrubbing and slipping around the tub.”
