“Whenever Calvin visits we do the wildest activities. On New Year’s Day we took our toboggans to Mount Royal where our friends Franco, Rocco, and Corn greeted us. Being severely afraid of heights and ankle injuries, I mostly watched as the guys and Corn sped down the mountain on sleds of impending disaster (SIDs). Franco jumped on the fastest SID and raced Calvin to the bottom. It was a close race: Franco’s skills passed down from his father, two-time Olympic luge racer, vs. Calvin the fearless twelve-year-old with joints of puddy. When the speed demons climbed back to the top, all six of us piled onto the smallest saucer toboggan for our final run down the hill. Calvin, on top of the pile, flew off halfway down. ‘We lost Calvin!’ I called out. Thank goodness for those joints of puddy.”
